"If you don't expect too much, you won't be disappointed,"
But if you don't expect enough, you might not be surprised.
And if you don't expect at all, you're telling that the point is:
Don't expect to live your life
(That's the chorus of a song I'm working on.)
Yesterday at work we were having a raffle which cost a dollar to enter. One co-worker, "Susanna," wasn't going to enter because, "I never win."
I said something to the effect of, "I just wrote a song about having to expect something sometimes, so you should enter because you never know what could happen."
So she ended up entering the raffle.
And she won.
Moral: If you don't expect at all, you won't have the chance to be surprised.
