Word.

I'm currently working on a paper that was due three weeks ago. Actually, I guess I'm currently blogging, but you get the idea.

Microsoft Word is sometimes wonderful, sometimes awful, and sometimes somewhere in the middle. Here are some examples, respectively:

a) I need a bulleted list? Bam! Done.

b) Need to create a line straight across the page? No problem! Need to make it disappear? ... Hmmm... wth... this is not working... [two hours later] Forget it. I'll just retype my entire resume.

c) On this paper I'm "currently" working on for my Anglican Theology class, I wrote the following sentence:

“If a piece of the communion bread falls on the floor and is eaten by a mouse, what does the mouse eat?”

What's this? Microsoft Word gave me a squiggly line under the end of the sentence, meaning it's going to show me how to correct my grammar. Funny, I didn't think anything was wrong... Let's check the suggestion:

“If a piece of the communion bread falls on the floor and is eaten by a mouse, what the mouse eats?”

Love Wins.

On my drive home from lunch w/Hammer, I saw a bumper sticker:

LOVE WINS.

It is so simple, yet so hopeful. I know plenty of people who just seem to have a lack of love in their lives. It's most apparent at work with all the talking behind one another's backs.

The situations never get better. It's always worse.

But here, on the back of a car, the simple reminder. Love wins.

It takes time for love to win. Sometimes it seems like love will never win. But I've found that love wins people over. And it's okay when love wins all the time, because when love wins, there is no loser.

At the end of your day
When the sun's put away
May you be able to say,
"Love wins."

A Brief Explanation

Okay, so apparently the best time for me to blog is during class.

Unfortunately, it's summer.

The weeks have been filled with friends visiting, work 5 days a week, church on Sundays, and most recently I have been making a pitiful attempt at finishing some papers for last quarter.

Wednesday nights I'm involved with Agape Cafe in Lombard, IL. I'm booking for the summer and thankfully have a good portion of the dates filled, though I could still use a few more. That has been a lot of fun! Since I've taken my break from playing out I have remembered how much I enjoy supporting others who are actually doing what I love to do.

On a completely different subject, I have a mental block against reading. It's something I enjoy, but actually sitting down and doing it is like checking the oil in my car. Like, it's good and not at all difficult, but for some reason it takes effort. (Okay, not the best analogy, but the first thought was "it's like pulling teeth," and even though I'm not writing music I am still not going to use cliches!)

All this has been going on and, really, I just haven't had much to say. Hence the scantily updated blog. I hope the three of you who read this don't mind. ;)

Back With New Music!

So, I've been gone for a little while, and then working a lot a while.

To make up for it, here are a couple of artists I hope you enjoy:

The Everyday Visuals - They're poppy rock. You need to check out the video for "Dance and Holler" on their page. It's delightful.

Eric Landshaft - If you're a fan of Matt Wertz, which I am, you'll enjoy this acoustic based poptastic artist.

Matt Cavanaugh - Another local acoustic artist who will be playing at Agape Cafe this Wednesday. I like it, and you should, too.

Matt and I will both be playing at the opening of Agape Cafe this week. Interested in coming? Shoot me an email: lugo.dan (at) gmail.com.

As easy as 1, 2, 4. ... Damn.

Sometimes you stumble across a band that kinda makes you jealous.

Other times you read someone's writing that you really enjoy.

And then sometimes you feel victorious.

This weekend I hope to go off and do some reading and writing with my friend Anna out in Defiance, OH. That's right, I'm spending the weekend in Defiance.

In defiance of work, gas prices, pending papers and more.

Life is good.
